My painting, “Beautiful Soft Folds” , is not about flowers. Not really.
If it were about flowers, then I would know if they are tulips or roses. But I’m not sure what they are. I actually see it more as an abstract…… it is about the lines, patterns and colour and internal emotions. It is about sensuality. A fertile place. Beautiful soft folds.
And so it plays into the larger view of my work in the sense that I want to see our world flourish. I want our world to be what we make it and not the way it is at times. (I love Carl Sagan’s “Contact”)
And so I seek out things that are full of life and potential. The wriggly stems could be seen as veins full of life on the surface of our skin. People would likely not think of these things directly when they view the work but if they find the painting interesting and are drawn to it, then I suspect that they are subconsciously picking up those ideas in their head.
