To the leaders of the Canadian NDP and the Green Party of Canada.
My name is Deryk Houston and much of my work has been around peace issues.
My work was featured in the National film board of Canada’s documentary, “From Baghdad to Peace Country”. (It aired across Canada on the evening of the last gulf war and has been aired on several networks since.)
I am linked to dozens of peace groups across Canada and the United States.
I am extremely upset that the NDP and the Green Party have supported the bombing of Libya and want to explain to you why it is important that you change your stand on this issue.
Please ask yourself if Gandhi would support this action.
Does the NDP or the green Party stand for peace “all the time” or only “some” of the time?
What would Gandhi do?
Why would the NDP and the Green Party support rebels that no one knows who they are or what they believe in?
There are also some serious legal implications being raised by international lawyers on the legality of this war. (The UN is breaking some of it’s own rules when it enforces this resolution).
The NDP and the Green Party are making a huge mistake on this issue. You can’t decide to support the idea of peace “most” of the time. It is a fundamental idea.
How can we trust you to run a country if you don’t understand this? You have to believe in it all of the time.
Please get back to me as soon as possible.I would like to talk to you about ways to repair this damage to the NDP and the Green Party.
I know my large group of supporters are shocked at your stand.
Thank you

PS: I would like to bring together a National group of like minded people to form a new party that will represent the idea of Peace.
