The artwork rests inside the eggs waiting to be released one day. The moment I set the eggs out on the grass with the help of my son Samuel and my wife Elizabeth, the early morning sun rose over the horizon of trees and mountains and I was able to capture that beautiful morning scene in my camera. Shortly after, as the light still held that warm morning glow, we moved the eggs to a new location nearby and placed a ladder against the six foot by ten foot eggs. I liked the beautiful lines of the ladder as it reached into the brisk morning sky. Blackbirds in the high trees found the surreal scene interesting as well and it was easy to coax them down with a “Bubby rose” muffin to explore the eggs further. With a bit of patience I was rewarded by the photo above. Over the next several hours I moved the eggs to new locations within the park with the help of my friends from the Collective works Gallery in Fernwood. Thank you all for being a part of an exciting day for me and making the event a success. It took a month of work to build the eggs for the one day installation and the resulting photographs will hopefully find their way into at least one art magazine or more giving them an extended life. I may include them as part of my one man exhibition at the Collective Works Gallery where will feature the photographs of Canadian soldiers sacrificed in Afghanistan .
