In this painting I have tried to make the \u00a0landscape outside as much a part of the scene as the interior. That is what it is like there. I bend the shapes and take liberties with the perspective. Community is important to most of us and my work reinforces the idea of generations and families trying to live together in peace. Children seem to do this best. This painting went to a super nice couple at one of my recent shows.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>February 27,\u00a0 2012 through to April 7 is my <a title=\"https:\/\/www.derykhouston.com\/?page_id=1715\" href=\"https:\/\/www.derykhouston.com\/?page_id=1715\" target=\"_blank\">exhibition at the Eclectic Gallery <\/a>on Oak Bay Avenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have new pieces at the amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sookeharbourhouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sooke Harbour House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/glass-on-glass.ning.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">my wife Elizabeth<\/a> and I have been invited to be featured artists there (their shows have Sunday opening receptions) in August 2012! I loved the smell of the diesel and the rubber tires in the hot summer sun. We would sit with our backs to the big black wheels and share lunch with the farm hands.<br \/>\nAs an artist, I admire how tractors easily tear up the fertile earth and prepare the ground for the next generation of seeds to flourish and grow.
