America is bankrupt and taking it’s allies with it.

Can you imagine….the USA is actually going to send close to forty thousand more troops to Afghanistan at a cost of One billion dollars for every extra one thousand troops per year. This is on top of the tens of thousands of troops it already has there now. And my bet is that Canada has already made it’s mind up to keep our troops there instead of bringing them home. No one can afford this war. Canadians and the American people don’t want to be there. Our economies are ruined and yet we stand by like sheep as our governments horse trade for lumber, oil and car deals.
I hear people say they are surprised at Obama because they thought he would end the wars. But if anyone had read his book, Audacity of Hope, they would have seen very clearly that he believes in defending American “Interests” overseas. In Afghanistan that means the important oil pipeline and a place to build military bases in order to have forceful means to have influence in the region. So no one should be surprised that he supports the idea that war can get America what it needs. On Tuesday in his important speech on Afghanistan he is going to tell us that he has an end date to get out. Keep in mind that he also promised that the prisons in Cuba would be closed by now and are not. Why do we send our children to have their bodies ripped apart to support this? Why do we stand by as our schools, hospitals and infrastructure beg for funding when the military gets all the toys it wants? China is spending it’s money and intellectual resources on science and technology. It is not spending trillions at war. I hope we wake up and stop this madness. Why are we letting our governments do this?

I haven’t even mentioned Iran in this piece. Am I the only one who notices the irony. We are watching Britain go through an “investigation” into the lead up to the invasion on Iraq and weapons of mass destruction and at the same time Iran is being told it “refuses” to agree to the nuclear deal presented by the west. And yet ….Iran has said that it “Would be happy to sign a deal” as long as the exchange of nuclear material take place on Iranian soil. Why are we not hearing from the Obama what is wrong with that idea? Why is it that all we hear him say is that the window of opportunity is closing fast on Iran because they refuse to sign the deal.
Iran has said very clearly that it “would” exchange the nuclear material under the above noted condition. That way Iran get’s the security of supply that it needs and the west gets the security of knowing that Iran has handed over it’s material.
Instead…we see the door being closed and a solution being lost. After the upcoming bombing and bloodshed created by an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel and supported by the USA…. no one will remember this fact. Just as no one remembers the fact the the Soviet Union brokered a deal with Saddam to have his army withdraw from Kuwait. No one remembers that Kuwait was stealing oil from underneath Iraq’s territory either and that Iraq had asked the international community to have Kuwait stop the illegal drilling. That was why Iraq invaded Kuwait in the first place.
