Can you imagine anything more scary than a man in power who would say….”Airing legal doubts to the US at that time would have damaged the coalition and encouraged Saddam, Mr Blair suggested.”
That sentence and admission says it all really.
Mr. Blair clearly has no idea of the importance of international law and what it means for the hope of world peace.
When I watch this inquiry taking place, I see a man who is in total denial for what he has done. He clearly can not face the nightmare admission that he made a massive mistake to go to war on the Iraqi people. An invasion that resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands. His mind refuses to wrap around the idea.
He sounds like a mad man when he talks about “they”….. referring to Iran as a backward, uneducated society. When he talks about Iran, he points out that “they” want to hold back the rest of the middle east from any progress and development.
I find it very scary to read how he defends his actions. If a man like this is allowed to have his way he clearly feels that it would be acceptable to invade Iran and cause further tens of thousands of Iranians to do “the dead man’s dance” …..possibly causing the entire world to erupt in war. Mr. Blair is still in a position of power ….. making decisions that will put our children in mortal danger. That is what I find so scary.
International law is sacred. The rules are that you enforce and obey them at all cost. You do not ignore them just because you are afraid that your coalition might fall apart if you point out to them that what you are going to do is against international law.
International law is our only hope for peace.
