70% of Canadian voters do not support Libya war. Not one political group in Canada is against it.

70% of the Canadian voters are against the war in Libya and yet every political group in Canada blindly supports this bombing campaign.
I would have hoped that… at the very least….they would be pointing out that the current actions go beyond the UN mandate. It seems that none of them have the courage to speak up as they all goose step in unison. They seem to live in the fantasy that Kaddafi will be marched off the chess board in one quick action.
None of them grasp the fact that their actions are fanning the flames of a civil war that was already started before the first strikes. I believe that their actions will plant the seeds for a broader, more sinister outcome and will result in more civilian deaths. We have seen this happen so many times in History already.
As predicted, this is not going to be a cake walk. As the weeks wear on, it will sink in that things are getting ugly. Support will dwindle, but as in the Iraq war, it will be difficult to find politicians who will want to admit that they supported the idea.
What happened to politicians representing the people? Most Canadians are against this action. And yet, as I said above…. all the political parties in Canada agree that bombing Libya is the right and only thing to do.
I should point out that the Green Party of Canada gave me a “tiny” glimmer of hope. They left me with the impression that they feel very uncomfortable with the war. I will be looking to them to come up with some sort of new direction. I encourage people to phone them and point out to them that bombing is never the solution simply because it always causes the situation to become even more complicated with more civilian deaths as a result.
It might be one thing to get involved in a leader that is shooting his own civilians. It is quite another thing to get involved when it is civilians who are killing civilians.
Phone: GREEN PARTY OF CANADA 1-866-868-3447 and tell them what you think.
Than you for your time.
