US Government sues man who stands up for children’s rights

Interesting to see that peace activist, Bert Sacks, is still being pursued and bullied by the United States Government and threatened with jail simply because he successfully took medicines to needy children in Baghdad during the time of the most brutal sanctions by the western world on the people of Iraq.
The following is a link to the article in the Seattle Times by Bruce Ramsey.

Thank you Bruce for your article above. Thank Goodness we have reporters that are willing to speak up when a citizen is being persecuted.
My first trip in 1999 to Baghdad was organized by Burt Sacks and it was a pleasure and an honor to be there with him, as well as some US congressmen and doctors.
Bert is a gentle, pure man and it seems incredible that he should end up in jail for simply taking much needed medicines to the Iraqi people.
Bert stands a good chance of going to jail. And yet the leaders of our countries who believe that childrens’ rights and international law are something that can be “horse traded” away in exchange for trade, oil, or other strategic gains…… they walk free.
Our leaders attend lavish gatherings, patting themselves on the back about how they support children’s rights and international law. But they only support these important laws when it suits them. (I believe that that is why our world is so dangerous today).
Clinton, Bush, Blair, and Canada’s Lloyd Axworthy supported these brutal sanctions knowing full well what was happening to the Iraqi people.
(When I pointed out to my own government in Canada …. the tragedy and utter misery that I had personally witnessed in Iraq, Lloyd Axworthy’s office told me, ” Deryk…..We are in several countries around the world and there are so many conflicts going on….we just can’t be expected to keep up with everything”.)
You can watch a documentary on my work for peace at the following web page.

Please give your congressman a call and tell them to drop this law suit against Bert Sacks. Is it any wonder that the United States is bankrupt when it devotes so much resources to war machines and high tech costly wars?
Give your congressman a call and tell them to spend your money more wisely.
